Fussy Chicken Mac OS

What does it take for the Windows XP computers to advertise their screen sharing capability so they'll show up in the Finder's 'Shared' sidebar??

I think you have to get Windows and Ubuntu to advertise via Bonjour.
Get the Mac utility *Bonjour Browser* from some place like VersionTracker.com or MacUpdate.com. It will show you what services are being advertised via Bonjour on your local network.
When I look at my network, the systems that I can see in my sidebar have a *Bonjour Browser* entry of the form:

Fussy
I was running into a similar problem this past weekend using OSXvnc on a Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger system accessing it from a Mac OS X 10.5.2 Leopard system using Chicken of the VNC.
In my case I always experienced this problem when I had an established working VNC connection, and then restarted the Airport base station (thus breaking the connection between the 2 systems).
When the Airport base station came back, I would re-establish the CotVNC connection to OSXvnc, and I would get a black screen.
I had to kill the OSXvnc, and allow the 'keep-alive' companion process restart OSXvnc. Then I could get CotVNC to re-connect and see the Tiger display.
This is the first time experienced this type of VNC problem. I know I'm using a different server, but I figured I would describe my situation in case it provides you with some ideas of your own.
